Stern by Brenda JacksonMy rating: 5 of 5 stars
This is one of my favorites of Brenda Jackson books! Best friends since they were young, Jovonnie (JoJo) Jones an auto mechanic, with interest in hunting, martial arts and archery is the perfect buddy and best friend to Stern Westmoreland. So much so, that these two were soulmates from the very beginning.
While spending time at the cabin, JoJo started to have an attraction for Stern, there is no way they could be a couple, they are best friends, so she thought. JoJo decides to attract another man to replace the feelings she had for Stern, by the name of Walter Carmichael, one of customers at her auto shop. However, she decides to get advice from Stern on how to attract a man. Taken back by her request, Stern advise her to get a makeover and she complies. However, Stern is having second thoughts about his advice and the fact of JoJo being with any man. He doesn’t want her hurt and this is his best friend. A man in her life could come in between their friendship or she could get hurt; every excuse he could think of, because it wasn’t until her thoughts of developing a relationship with someone is when Stern notice his attraction for JoJo.
When Stern decided to kiss her, she thought it was a teaching lesson to go along with her makeover, so Stern went with that although that was not his intent. However, kissing JoJo almost made him lose control and he had to stop the kissing lessons before things went too far. When JoJo realized Walter was not her cup of tea, she knew and realized Stern was the only man she ever trusted and loved. So, JoJo request to escalate their friendship to being friends with benefits and Stern agreed, which took their friendship to a totally different level. Although, neither one wanted to admit to each other how they felt, in fear of losing their friendship, but the intimacy proved something different.
I love JoJo and Stern as a couple and as friends. I absolutely loved this book and highly recommend. Cute, funny and entertaining love story. I give it 5 out of 5 stars. This will be a re-read, probably sooner than later.
