Prisoner of Love by Beverly JenkinsMy rating: 5 of 5 stars
This book was a Novella, I love this story, it was well developed, short, sweet and straight to the point. Elizabeth Franklin’s husband, William Franklin abandoned her for another women. After leaving town to handle family business, he sent her a letter and divorce papers to sign and send back to him. Devastated and hurt, Elizabeth knew she had to still work the 60 acres of land and she needed help. So, she decided to marry a prisoner, Jordan Yancy, and in turn, he would help her work the land and he would receive his freedom.
Started out as an arranged marriage, but instead it develops into a passionate, steamy and surreal relationship. Although, Jordan was a convicted felon, he was a former Marshall, that went to prison for a crime that he did not commit and after his innocence was proven, he became the new Deputy in town.
The funny part about this story, is when William, Elizabeth estranged husband decided to come back, because his relationship with the woman he left her for did not work out and he thought he could just pick up from where he left off, but Jordan showed him otherwise. William fail to file the divorce papers after Elizabeth sent them back to him, he tried to accuse Elizabeth of bigamy. However, Elizabeth had proof from his letter of his abandonment and indication that he would not want to get back to being her husband.
Love the story, for me it was a perfect ending. This book will definitely be a re-read. One of my favorites of Beverly Jenkins books. I give this book a 5 out of 5 stars.
