Review: Bachelor Unleashed

Bachelor Unleashed Bachelor Unleashed by Brenda Jackson
My rating: 3 of 5 stars

After reading this book, I had to think on it for a moment. I know Farah was a scorned woman, but I was trying to figure out to what extent, or should I say, I was questioning the choices that she was making. I guess, I was just confused. I was also trying to decide if I like the story or not. Farah and Xavier were having a hot affair and short of a year, she decided to break things off between them. Farah was divorced and was hurt tremendously, after her husband got a baby and left her for the other woman. Farah refuse to allow any man to ever hurt her like that again. Farah allowed the hurt to define her future and how she predetermined the actions of men. However, Xavier was hurt also by a past relationship, so they agreed on not being in a committed relationship.

Six months later, they run into each other while on business in New York City, during the Christmas holiday. They both had feelings for each other, that is why Farah broke off the affair. Afraid that her feelings were getting in too deep and something she wanted to avoid. Although Xavier agreed with the break-up, but after seeing Farah, he was determined to rekindle their affair and turn their relationship into something more.

Farah contradicted herself throughout the story, first she wanted to be with him and call shots on how long they would extend their affair, next she was trying to run away. On the outside, she treated Xavier like he was nothing but a bed partner, but on the inside she loved him and did not want to admit it, yet she had no problem sleeping with him that made dealing with her feeling for Xavier more difficult. Even though neither one of them had slept with anyone else since the breakup, but I was wondering, since Farah broke off the relationship, was she planning on eventually sleeping with someone else or live a life of celibacy?

This story had a lot of hot sex. I admit it was a pretty good book, but on the other hand, they both got on my nerves. I was surprised that Xavier took so much patience in trying to convince Farah that they were an idol. I did like that they finally got a chance to date and get to know each other on a different level. I give this book a 3 out of 5 stars. No re-read.
