Review: Bachelor Undone

Bachelor Undone Bachelor Undone by Brenda Jackson
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This is Darcy Owens story, you know the best friend of Ellie, the one that got her in trouble with Uriel because of her big mouth. I was excited to read about Darcy, she is feisty, out-spoken, stubborn, independent and free-spirited.

Darcy takes a much-needed vacation to get away during the holiday season, to relax, enjoy and spread her wings in Jamaica. However, York Ellis is there also, on business, doing an investigation on a film industry. If you read, Bachelor Untamed, you know York and Darcy do not get along. Apparently, York’s timing was off, when he tried coming on to Darcy at the time that she was going through issues with her ex-husband and out of madness she cut York down in the worst way. York was shocked and mad, not knowing what she was going through, but after that ordeal, they were constantly at odds. But in-spite of their differences, things got heated between the two. Although, the heat did not stop them from arguing which I found sometimes ridiculous. York was trained in law enforcement and investigations, but, Darcy challenge him on his speculation of Damien, one of the employees with the film crew, that he felt was behind the crimes in his investigation. Darcy had meet and went out with Damien and when York tried to warn her, she wouldn’t listen. Not even knowing this man, she felt he could be innocent. But, after finding out York was right and when he further warned her to stay away from him, she felt, she could take care of herself and assist him in taking Damien down. Knowing it was too dangerous for Darcy to be involved and to protect her, York took matters into his own hands to nail Damien, leaving Darcy mad because she felt she had been used. That part I did not get, how did she feel she was used, when she was the one that went out with Damien in the first place, even after being warned. Although, York was arrogant; Darcy was overly stubborn.

I like how this story unfolded and the relationship that developed between Darcy and York. I partially liked Darcy outspokenness and York’s take charge nature. This is a story I would love to read/listen to again. They were two imperfect people that were perfect for each other. I like the end on how York handled Darcy’s madness. It was one time that left Darcy speechless, all she could do was comply. They both met their match. I give this book 5 out of 5 starts. I look forward to a re-read.
