Homecoming by Beverly JenkinsMy rating: 5 of 5 stars
This book was a novella, it was short, sweet and straight to the point. Lydia Cooper, 31 years old was childhood sweethearts with Grayson Dane, until one day, he wanted to fiddle into someone else’s cooch. He never touched Lydia only with a kiss, but considering Anne Mae Dexter was ready and willing, he took the dive. However, it came back to bit him because what you do in the dark with surely come to light. Annie Mae accused him of fathering her child, and of course he had to marry her, leaving Lydia hurt, and devastated. To take Lydia away from the shame, her mother sent her away to live with her aunt, where her life and career progressed, becoming the school master of an all-girl school. Fifteen years later she returns home, and, on the way, she runs into Grayson Dane, the man that broke her heart and betrayed her. Although, she could not find a way to forgive what he had done, but her mother told her, “It was about living in the past and how it can keep you from relishing the blessings that might await you in the present.” Those words help Lydia in her decision to forgive and move forward with Grayson.
I really like this story; it is one of those quick read books that leaves you content. A good way to end your day. I can say that it could have been more to the story, but considering it is a Novella, it was well developed and a good read. I highly recommend and surely this is a book that I would re-read. I give it a 5 out of 5 stars.
