Always and Forever by Beverly JenkinsMy rating: 5 of 5 stars
Empowerment of a woman is how I describe Always and Forever. Grace Atwood a banker, single, independent and strong minded. Left at the alter by her fiancé Garth Leeds to go marry a woman with more money and status. She gets a letter from her cousin Price Prescott to organize a trip for mail order brides from Chicago to Kansas. Grace takes him up on his offer to give herself time to get away from the argue and humiliation she felt and the towns gossip. She hires Jackson Blake, former lawman, handsome, sexy, tough and arrogant to assist her in conducting the wagon train trip. Both Grace and Jackson have something in common; stubbornness and determination.
My favorite character in this book was Loreli, she is not spoken of much in the story, but I liked her free spirit and the fact she was a bit rough around the edges. Loreli is a gambler and although she knew she was “not cut from wife cloth”, she rode out anyway just for “a change of scenery.” What I like about the relationship between Grace and Jackson is that they stuck together throughout the whole story, both had a mission and no matter how dangerous things got or how mad they were at each other. At the end of the day, they still maintain the deep passion that had for each other. It was nice to hear a male narrator; it gave me the opportunity to hear more of the male voice. I like and recommend this book. I give this book a 5-star review.
My choice of casting:
• Idris Elba as Jackson Blake
• Gugu Mbatha-Raw as Grace Atwood
